Ophelia’s Suite – Beachview Bed and Breakfast Tybee Island, GA

Ophelia’s Suite is one of the Grandest rooms at the Beachview Bed and Breakfast on Tybee. It is located on the back northwest corner of the building. This suite has four windows for extra light but you will be able to sleep late since the rising sun on Tybee does not shine thru as in the front of the house. This is one of my favorite rooms! Peaceful and Calming is the best words I can use to describe this room. A Queen Bed that features therapeutic mattresses, Egyptian cotton percale sheets and 100% down filled pillows and alternate pillows. High original ceilings made of heart pine. The private Bath features all new Eco friendly plumbing and fixtures. This is the room I feel was Ophelia’s, the first owner in 1910. Hall but since we only serve breakfast that really is not an inconvenience. In fact, I like to tip toe across the barefoot clean floors to the Keurig Coffee Pot station for a fresh cup of brewed coffee and a homemade cookie.It is on the back end of the house on the Second floor so you do not get any street noise.
 

This spacious suite offers a sleigh queen bed with a wonderful mattresses and a nightstand, a table large enough for two laptops, comfortable chairs and 32 inch HD TV. The ceramic tiled bathroom features new environmentally friendly low flow plumbing, combination shower/tub and antique style sink. You will find plenty of storage for your personal items in the antique dresser, armoire and bathroom shelving.

To preserve the history of this suite, the color of the walls are reminiscent of the color that Ophelia originally chose . Notice also, the walls in the bathroom on the right hand side are different from the other walls, This is because three walls are historically preserved where the fourth wall is recently constructed to create the private bathroom. Guests on this floor will enjoy the second floor interior common area and the wonderful porches.

Private’s Quarters - Beachview Bed and Breakfast Tybee Island, Ga

Replacing what was previously a sleeping porch, this quaint suite was added on to the original building in 1932 by Ophelia Wallace, then owner of the Beachview. Originally intended for rent to local off duty soldiers from Fort Screven, we call this suite the Private’s Quarters.

This smaller but still spacious suite offers a private outdoor entrance with a cement patio 7 garden space, queen bed with table, comfortable chairs and 32 inch HD TV. The kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, toaster, small refrigerator and coffee station. The ceramic tiled bathroom features new environmentally friendly low flow plumbing and combination shower/tub. Find plenty of storage for your personal items in the dresser or along with your luggage in the closet near the kitchenette.
To preserve the history of this suite, the color of the walls are reminiscent of the color that Ophelia originally chose and the color above the kitchenette reflects the exterior colors found on the Beach View Hotel in the 1930s. Notice also, the walls in the bathroom and kitchenette are the original exterior lap siding while the newer walls are plank board.

Presidential – Beachview Bed and Breakfast Tybee Island, GA

The Presidential is one of the largest suites on the middle floor and arguably the most historically correct. This is the floor with the amazing covered porch that looks over the ocean and is bathed in ocean breezes.

Furnishings include a queen bed complete with therapeutic mattresses and percale Egyptian cotton linens, side table, dresser and lounge chair. Amenities include cable TV, Internet & your own private bathroom.

This pristine room features large original windows and an oversized bathroom with Antique Claw Foot soaking tub. The high ceilings sport original tongue and groove heart pine with original finish. During the recent historical restoration sheetrock was removed to expose and repair the plaster walls. The walls are painted, Gratifying Green, one of the original colors found on the walls by Tybee’s Historical Society.

Looking for romance? This is the suite for you! Poster king bed This suite is on the second floor at the Beautiful Beachview Bed and Breakfast. Just outside this suite is a large Veranda that is over 100 years old and looks out over the Atlantic Ocean. Presidential is a large suite with 12 foot ceilings made of heart pine tongue and grove original bead board. The suite features a King Rice Bed with top of the line mattresses and Egyptian percale cotton linens. Also features a large antique couch and a lounge chair. The bathroom is stunning with a claw tub for the ultimate soaking.

Historically, this room is part of the original structure built in the 1910. The windows have been preserved and refurbished so they still can be opened to let in the ocean breeze. But please be careful because they are over 100 years old.

The private bath has all new environmentally friendly plumbing and fixtures. So, be assured your shower will still be amazing with the massaging shower head while using less water.

It was in this room during the renovation that I first felt the presence of our resident ghost, Ophelia. The previous owner, John Hunter, had opened the walls to create a large dining area. But it became obvious to me that the original door to this room had been covered up. When the boards blocking the doorway came down, I felt an amazing energy whoosh by me. A chill ran up my spine and the hair on my body stood up. Chris, the worker helping me said he felt it too.
